ACCOMMODATION
Six double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, under floor heating, heaters in the bathroom, TV with satellite in each room, air-conditioning, separate TV lounge / dining room, microwave oven, bar fridge, pool and braai facility. Self catering facilities are also available i.e. there is a fully equipped kitchen. We offer secure parking in a walled garden, within a boomed area with a security guard at the gate entrance.
SERVICES and Facilities
The rooms are serviced daily and a full English breakfast is included in the rates. We offer Wireless internet and a laundry service is available at an extra charge. We can arrange pick up from the Gautrain (Sandton station) and transport to the OR Tambo Airport, if required.
Activities and Attractions
Approximately 10 kms from down town Johannesburg City centre - places of interest include the Market Theatre in Newtown, various restaurants featuring local cuisine, a World of Beer tour organised by S A Breweries, the Newtown Curio Centre, and a number of historic buildings from the early mining days.
Approximately 12 kms from Gold Reef City, a theme park area, which includes a mining museum. a casino, restaurants and an amusement park. Adjacent to Gold Reef City is the Apartheid Museum, a grim reminder of the atrocities suffered by many under the apartheid regime.
Approximately 15 kms from Soweto - a tour to Soweto is must for people visiting South Africa. Visit Nelson Mandelas home, The Hector Pietersen Memorial and dine on local cuisine at Sakhumsis restaurant. Also visit Soccer City (FNB Stadium), the venue for the 2010 Soccer World Cup Final, a modern stadium which seats 94,000 spectators. A must for soccer fans.
Approximately 40 kms from the Lion and Rhino Parks where you can observe at least two of Africas Big 5.
Location
We are conveniently situated close to the N1 North (freeway to Pretoria) and N1 South (freeway to Johannesburg City / Soweto / Bloemfontein), about 300 m from the Corlett Drive entrance to the Melrose Arch Centre, in the suburb of Atholl, Johannesburg. We are also approximately 20 kms from OR Tambo Airport (approximately ½ hour drive by cab).
Willows B&B is a mere five minute drive from the Sandton and Rosebank Gautrain stations (Rosebank station is not yet open but is expected to open in mid 2011, as is the Pretoria route). Passengers will be able to join this route at Rosebank or Sandton. The route will be Sandton / Malboro / Rhodesfield / Midrand / Centurion / Pretoria / Hatfiled). It will be possible to catch the train from Sandton to watch rugby at Loftus Versveld Stadium (home of the Blue Bulls) and cricket at Centurion Park. It will also be possible to catch the train to the Johannesburg city centre (Park Station).
We are approximately 10 kms from Ellis Park (now Coca Cola) stadium, home of the Golden Lions rugby franchise, and the venue for rugby Test matches, Super 14 games, and often the venue for rock concerts. Wanderers Cricket stadium, home of the Highveld Lions Cricket franchise, and the venue for International test matches, and host to other tournaments such as IPL, Champions League etc is a short distance from us.
We are a minutes drive from Sandton City, Africas premier shopping mall. The mall houses numerous shops, restaurants, cinemas, banks and features many famous international brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci etc. There is enough parking space available. Approximately 500m away (an easy walk) is Melrose Arch Centre, a mixed use centre with restaurants, malls, residential and office space, and banking facilities.
