Segaia Bush Retreat \ Accommodation in Buffelsdrift

Segaia Bush Retreat Buffelsdrift

The name rolls gently and easily off the tongue - Segaia - a name you’re not likely to forget once you’ve visited this charming lodge which is a mere 20km from Pretoria and less than an hour from Johannesburg and O.R. Tambo International Airport.

One of the jewels of northern Gauteng, Segaia Bush Retreat offers an escape to the magic of the bush that reminds of areas far more remote. It is the perfect getaway for weary, ‘traffic jammed’ city dwellers who do not want to spend hours on the road to get to a weekend destination, but require an atmosphere of peace and tranquility combined with fresh air.

ACCOMMODATION

Main Lodge
Overlooking the dam, the newly opened main lodge has a newly opened +- 200 m2 entertainment area with large stone fire place. It sleeps a minimum of six people and many more.

UNIT 1: Zebra
The spacious Zebra Unit is right next to the clear, blue swimming-pool. The unit has a large, elevated veranda overlooking the natural dam only meters away. The view is breathtaking as it is - so imagine when the visiting zebra, antelope and warthog grace it with their presence! The interior is stylish and luxurious - reflecting the fine taste of Segaia’s Swiss-South African owner. A huge king-sized bed dominates the open-plan interior. The guest with a distinguished eye will notice the superb percale linen and down duvet. From the bed the large sliding doors afford the same view as the deck area.

Should a family of four decide on this cottage, two single beds are provided for children. A magnificent oval bath in the bathroom overlooks the bush, while the massage shower will relax any lingering city tensions. The self-catering, separate kitchenette area is fitted with new, sleek and well-designed appliances and comes with all the necessary crockery and cutlery, pots and bowls. Whether you bring ready made meals, start-from-scratch meals or braai/barbeque meals, everything you need for easy preparation, is here.

UNIT 2: Leopard
The lovely Leopard Unit is next to, but set back from Zebra House, ensuring privacy to both. The beautiful, uninterrupted views remain. The house is also adjacent to the pool area and the high veranda overlooks the animals’ watering hole.

The king-sized bed provides for a pleasant sleep. With single beds available, the unit can sleep three. The linen is once again exquisite, also percale and down duvets. This unit boasts the same oval bath and shower. The kitchenette area is as thoughtfully fitted and stocked as all the other units.

UNITs 3 AND 4: Giraffe and Warthog
The Giraffe and Warthog Units complete the exclusive accommodation facilities. They are located about fifty meters into the bush, with serene, un-spoilt views of surrounding doringveld. A 50-metre gravel pathway leads to the pool area. Kudu and impala that graze under the trees regard visitors with mild interest, but seem unperturbed. These two units are adjoining, but have separate verandas with gazebos, tables and chairs, oil lanterns and torches that make outdoor living and alfresco dining an inviting affair.

Both units have two bedrooms, not en suite, but with well designed shower and separate toilet each, luxurious linen, and a stylishly Africa-themed interior; they each have tastefully furnished living/dining room, fully equipped kitchenettes. Earthy colours and textures create an inviting, peaceful bush-haven. These units can be reserved together, for a group of eight, or as two separate units.

Facilities

Each unit has its own outdoors barbeque/braai - a square, mobile, sleekly designed fireplace. Segaia is only minutes away from the great restaurants at Roodeplaat and Kievietskroon, should guests want to opt for the eat-out experience while here. TV is available on request. Discreet and helpful staff services all units daily.

ACTIVITES:

• Water-sports at nearby at Roodeplaat Dam.
• Visit nearby Mandela Cultural Village and Ndebele Cultural Village

Segaia has all of these, including African sunsets and stunning views of a dam on your doorstep - a watering place where Zebra, Kudu, Impala, warthog and the odd leopard come to drink. Birdlife is prolific, as are large numbers of frogs, both of which treat visitors to their songs.

North-east of Pretoria, Segaia is situated directly to the west of the Roodeplaat Dam Reserve. It is completely surrounded by dense ‘doringveld’ and nestles in the well-maintained and carefully managed Buffelsdrift Conservancy.

This exclusivity, combined with a gentle stillness and that expectant, magical atmosphere unique to Africa, gives it a quality that is usually only found in deep bushveld settings.
