Hatfield Castle is once again being used for the purpose for which it was originally built in 1922. Originally a French castle, it was a weekend hideaway when the area around Hatfield (today), was only part of the bushveld. Today it is still a retreat from the rigours of urban life, situated on the brink of Pretoria's city centre in a quite area in Hatfield.
Accommodation
The stately entrance is a fitting introduction to the noble architectural flair and gives just a little hint of the treasures within; La Maison offers a harmony of historical interests, homely hospitality and culinary delights and is a stone's throw away from every convenience imaginable.
Six beautifully individually decorated and well appointed en-suite bedrooms are situated on the first floor. Four double and two twin bedrooms have all the facilities that you require, so you can leave all that excess baggage behind! We supply toiletries, DSTV, tea/ coffee making facilities, radio/alarm clock, hairdryer and direct-dial telephone.
Breakfast and Dining
The dining room where full English breakfast is served is also situated on the first floor. A fully licensed Portuguese restaurant; Catemba is situated on the ground floor for lunches, dinners and relaxation all day long. Business hours are from 10am till late. Entertainment like Spanish dancers; Greek plate breaking, Portuguese and Spanish live music are provided.
Weddings and Conferences
We cater for small weddings up to 120 guests while a honeymoon suite is also available and overnight for another 11 guests. Conferences of up to 60 participants have been hosted.
Location & Attractions
We are in walking distance from the Hatfield Business Centre, the New Gautrain Station and parking facilities, Hatfield Square and the University of Pretoria. We are also only one block away from the Urology Hospital and within two kilometres from Loftus Sporting Facility and the Union Buildings. Only a hundred metres from Springbok Park.
La Maison is ideally situated for business people, visitors to the University of Pretoria, the CSIR as well as Hatfield businesses. Three airports are within easy reach; Oliver Tambo, Lanseria and Wonderboom with Wonderboom the closest within a 10km radius. The City of Johannesburg is a 45 minutes drive from the site and Sun City and the Pilansberg Game Reserve within 90 minutes drive. Gold Reef City in Johannesburg South is an hour drive away.
The 2010 Soccer Stadium is situated within a 2km radius, with Rustenburg Stadium and Soccer City in Johannesburg-South are within an hours drive from the site. Several wedding venues and game reserves are situated within a half hours drive from the site.
