The CSIR International Convention Centre offers superb facilities and quality service with conference, function and exhibition venues that can accommodate events of 500 to as little as 10 delegates and guests, with groups as large as 1000 being accommodated at times. Value added facilities and services

The Centre also offers a modern one-stop business centre with related support services, facilities for the physically disabled, glass-fronted soundproof translation and press booths, on-site medical assistance and security and free secure parking. Banking facilities, travel desks and bureau de change can be arranged on request and interpreting, documentation, conference organising and other services are available through the Centre's network of excellent partnerships.

State-of-the-art audio-visual equipment together with an infrastructure that supports video conferencing, all other communication systems such as satellite links and specialised power requirements gives the Centre an added edge that enhances and supports any event. All the Centre's equipment and facilities are constantly upgraded to ensure that it continues to be competitive on international standards. The Centre is the location chosen for over 500 diverse workshops, meetings, conferences, congresses, conventions and exhibitions with accompanying functions each year. Some of these include the Africa Conference on Elections, Democracy and Governance; the TRC Hearings; the Simmentaler World Congress; WSSD: Science at the Summit; Visit by Yassar Arafat; the Bionet International Global Congress and the Seventh International Fiqh Conference, which included halaal catering for 500 delegates.

Catering

The experienced team of chefs at the Centre offers great menus with a distinctive flair. Gastronomical delights abound from pastries to buffets and plated meals, cocktail fare, barbecue functions and gala banquets. Religious and medical dietary requirements are catered for with ease and the Centre's Executive Chef takes great pleasure in creating personalised menus to suit each individual clients requirements. The Centre prides itself on its competitive pricing and its ability to adapt to individual needs.

Community focus

The CSIR International Convention Centre has a programme in place to train people from previously disadvantaged communities in skills required for employment in the catering industry. Many of the trained individuals are then employed by the CSIR on a full-time or part-time basis, or they apply for jobs elsewhere using their newly acquired skills. Another arm of the Centre's community service is the donation of food or consumables that are not used during an event to charities in and around Pretoria. These donations are made on a regular basis on behalf of the event host, who is credited by name for the contribution.

Video Conferencing
The CSIR International Convention Centre has selected Dimension Data's Multimedia Service division to be the provider of video-conferencing technology for the Centre's clients. We will, together with Dimension Data, provide you with a cost effective, efficient solution to all of your video-conferencing requirements.

Venues
The Centre's auditoriums, conference, breakaway and function rooms can accommodate groups of between 10 and 450 people. 700 Delegates can be accommodated in parallel sessions and up to 1000 guests can be accommodated for cocktail-type events.

The two larger auditoriums have schoolroom style seating with raked floors, podiums, soundproof interpreting and press booths as well as digital congress network units between each two seats. Seating and set-up in the other conference and function venues is flexible and provided according to organisers' requirements. Reception, registration and refreshment facilities with adjacent exhibition space are provided in the Centre's foyers outside each venue entrance.

Menus and wine lists
The International Convention Centre is able to provide menus and winelists on tables on request. We welcome the opportunity to provide customised menus for any type of event. Please discuss your requirements with our Reservations Office.

Floor plans and table lists
The International Convention Centre can provide floor plans of your function venue to correspond with your table lists. Kindly provide our Reservations Office with your table lists well in advance of the function so that we can co-ordinate the seating and lists accordingly and place the lists with the floor plan on notice boards outside your function venue. Should you be providing your own floor plans kindly provide our Reservations Office with a copy of the plans at least five working days prior to your event so that the venue can be set up accordingly.

FUNCTIONS & EVENTS

All function menu prices include Round tables designed to seat between 8 to 12 persons each, White linen serviettes and table cloths with optional royal blue overlays, Service staff until 24:00 (thereafter an hourly rate applies), Standard-size dance floor (if required), Light CD background music (if required). Our prices do not include: Beverages (bar arrangements are in accordance with customer requirements. Kindly discuss the requirements for your event with our Reservations Office).
