The Blades Kameeldrift
The Blades is an exclusive hotel situated on a 10 hectare expanse of untamed Bushveld. Built on the banks of the Roodeplaat dam, The Blades offers a unique combination of indigenous vegetation, landscaping and water-front luxury.
Roodeplaat Dam and the surrounding Dinokeng Tourism region provides a myriad of activities, from game viewing and bird watching to a wide range of water sports including rowing, canoeing and fishing. Bird watchers are treated to some 230 different species of indigenous birds.
Tours and day-trips can be arranged to visit near-by attractions. The world-famous Cullinan diamond mine is a mere 25 minutes drive away. The owners of The Blades are all members of the Old Edwardian Boat Club. After years of passionate planning it has been their vision to create a waterfront haven. The interiors subtly reflect the sophisticated rowing theme. Cool linen couches in the clubhouse offer the perfect summer retreat to sample our cocktail menu. Sundowners can be enjoyed on the timber deck with magnificent views of the dam and surrounds.
The Blades is conveniently situated just 20 minutes from Pretoria and OR Tambo International and 45 minutes from Johannesburg, making it an accessible destination to both local and international guests.
ACCOMMODATION
The Blades Hotel has on offer a wide variety of room types. All suites are north-facing, with breathtaking views of Roodeplaat Dam and its surrounding vegetation. The feel of our suites is one of secluded, tranquil bushveld luxury. All rooms exude warmth and elegance.
The interiors are stylish and understated, with rich earth tones and hints of regatta colours. Central fireplaces add to the ambience of bushveld romance. All rooms are equipped with satellite TV, bar fridge, coffee bar, electronic safes, climate control, telephones and hairdryers. Bathrooms are designed semi open-plan to create cosy, yet secluded intimacy. Fresh cotton towels and exclusive Charlotte Rhys toiletries are provided. Our aim is to provide comfort and luxury. We are happy to accommodate special requests.
Executive Double Room
These magical stilted suites each have their own fire place and open plan bath with a double hand basin and large shower area.
Family Rooms
These are larger units with 2 Double bedrooms and are wheelchair friendly. Chalets are complete with baths & showers.
Luxury Double Rooms
Very spacious double rooms on the 1st floor overlooking our own dam and bushveld, all complete with bath & shower.
DINING
The Blades Restaurant, seating up to 150 guests, is also open to non hotel residents. Our chefs have created an exclusive menu with a small selection of signature dishes. You will find a selection that pleases all palates. Our success lies in the simplicity of our cuisine. All our dishes are lovingly prepared, using only the freshest of ingredients. Whenever possible we use organic herbs and vegetables grown in our own gardens at The Blades. Guests can enjoy a handpicked selection of wines, to accommodate all budgets.
Meals can be savoured inside our elegant restaurant, outside on the deck or alfresco on the lush green lawns, on the waters edge. Our timber deck, over-looking the dam, provides the perfect setting to sample a champagne cocktail or just relax on our imported, woven couches. Both savoury and sweet snacks, as well as light lunches are served throughout the day.
Why not book a picnic hamper and enjoy a lazy lunch daydreaming by the waters edge. A fine selection of pates, cheeses and breads will make this a treat. Our well-stocked Clubhouse bar caters for all sports-loving patrons. All major sporting events are screened at The Blades bar. In winter, snacks and gluhwein can be sipped by the warm log fire in our cosy lounge.
Afternoon high-teas can be served on request and can turn kitchen teas, baby showers and the likes into pure indulgence.
WEDDINGS
The Blades will capture the spirit of love, happiness and celebration on your wedding day. The wedding ceremony can be held on our manicured lawns or inside our spacious conference centre. Elegant chandeliers or fairy lights transform this venue into an enchanting ballroom. We are able to cater for both large and more intimate weddings. Our neutral, warm interiors can accommodate any wedding theme or colour scheme. Light filters through panoramic windows offering views of both the water and the surrounding scenery. Breathtaking natural scenery offers an ideal setting for wedding photography.
To ensure that your wedding banquet is truly memorable we will graciously accommodate all your needs and requirements. We will assist you in every possible way. Our experienced wedding planner will extend her support, advice and attention to detail to all aspects of your wedding, at no extra cost. Our dedicated team of chefs will create a festivity of food to perfectly blend with your unique experience at The Blades . We delight in meeting your individual requests, be they buffet-style or a la carte.
The Bridal Suite caters for the bridal partys pre wedding preparations. Our comfortable Executive Suite doubles up as honeymoon haven. Chilled champagne and chocolates await you, whilst in winter one can cosy up before a roaring log fire. Wedding packages include venue hire, food, service and accommodation. CONFERENCES
The Blades is the perfect place to host a Conference, be it large or small, formal or informal. Our venue has a unique ambience. Located in pristine bushveld, the feel is relaxed and tranquil. Our professional set-up and attention to detail will guarantee a successful event. We offer two distinct conferencing venues.
Firstly, our thatched conference centre is able to accommodate up to 200 people should the need arise. Presentation portals, seating arrangements and media display can be tailored to suit all business and personal requirements. Secondly, an exclusive loft boardroom is the ideal venue for a more intimate corporate conference or meeting.
